According to offical statistics, the population of Georgia amounts to some 3.7 million people.

Between January 2017 and September 2017, 860,000 people had officially been registered as visitors. According to this number, the country known to be particularly hospitable, welcomed tourists that roughly made up one fourth of its own population. This is especially interesting, as this statistic does not yet consider the winter tourism, which, until recently, was considered to be the main tourist season for Georgia.

Georgians voted for representative councils (Sakrebulo) and mayors of municipalities last Saturday. According to the preliminary results, the Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia is the winning party in all Georgian municipalities, except for the district of Tianeti. In general, international observers considered the elections fair and transparent.

With „One Belt One Road”, Xi Jinping, the Chinese General Secretary of the Communist Party, introduced a new initiative in 2013 – aiming to revive the ancient silk road. Back then, Georgia was not considered important along the lines of official maps. Four years later, things have changed fundamentally. Anyone speaking about the new silk road in China knows about Georgia’s whereabouts – and certainly understands the importance of Georgia to this epoch-making development.
